Finding Nemo
Walt Disney and Pixar

- This is one of this year's best films because it genuinely has mass appeal for the entire family. The story of a father and son Clown fish who both learn to trust each other and the various fish that befriend them is funny, heart-warming and inspirational. When the overprotective dad, Marlin (Albert Brooks) watches as his son, Nemo is carried off by a driver, he braves the wild and dangerous ocean on a great adventure to save his son. Along the way, he meets the goofy but lovable Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), a forgetful blue Tang fish who braves the deep ocean with him. Together they encounter vegetarian sharks, ride inside a whale, travel with surfer dude turtles, get stung by jelly fish and encounter hunger seagulls! All the while, Nemo is adjusting to life in a dentist's fish tank and plotting his escape before he can be given away to a clumsy little girl. What is so awesome is that the filmmakers and creative animators have enhanced all the general knowledge of ocean living and made a beautiful world underwater. The fish and other creatures have personalities that reflect love, loyalty and ambition.

- The two disc set includes a host of wonderful extras including in-depth-details of the making of "Nemo," interviews with the artists, voice talents and directors, games and several short feature films including Pixar's "The Incredibles," "Cousteau and All your Nemo friends," and "Exploring the Reef" with Jean-Michel Cousteau and much, much more. There are hours of entertaining features that will delights kids and their parents. This is an incredible achievement from the Academy Award winning creators of "Toy Story" and "Monsters, Inc." You'll definitely treasure this DVD collection for many years to come.

Naquoyqatsi Life As War
Miramax Home Entertainment

- This marriage of digital technology and state-of-the-art visuals fused with mesmerizing music which illuminate the images of man's changing world from the naturalistic to the technological advancement in the late 20th century is awe inspiring. The DVD journey of Godfrey Reggio's documentary may be an acquired taste but it will thrill those viewers who want to take a break from mainstream movies. The music of Philip Glass and cellist Yo-Yo Ma is wonderful and they do accent the modern turmoil of today.

The disc in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound and widescreen format also includes a converation with Glass and Ma, a music featurette, NYU Panel Discussion and much much more.

The Real World You Never Saw: Paris
Paramount & MTV Video

- MTV "Real World" series plops a cast of attractive young things in a villa on the edge of Paris and we get to watch with horror and amusement at their culture shock as they attempt to live in the beautiful City of Light. Wild and wacky, they murder the French language in a desperate attemtp to get dates and get by but their frustration doesn't mask their youthful spirit. There is pole dancing, sexy stuff in the dark, hot tub parties and messy rooms, and lots of fast talk and wrestling. Gone is the shyness of the earlier episodes. While this cast gets fed-up with their every move being photographed, they also mug a lot for the camera. After all, no one has definite plans after spending six free months in Paris!

The disc includes the charming and hilarious cast video profiles, laugh out loud outtakes, an exclusive tour of the gorgeous house and bonus footage. Fans of the series will be thrilled at this French segment.

Space Jam
Warner Video

- A clever mix of animation and live-action comedy, "Space Jam" featured the most popular ahtlete in the world with delightful Looney Tunes stars who team up for a hoop game to save their world from bing upsurped and turned into a galactic theme park. Their opponets, the Nerdlucks have stolen the skills of top NBA players Charles Barkley and Patrick Ewing so the game promises to be intense and challenging. Michael Jordon, in his first movie role, is charming and skilled as he stars opposite a goofy Bill Murray as well as Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. This is the kind of film that appeals to adults as well as kids. It's ingenious!

The two disc set includes tons of features that will delight fans for hours. There is commentary by Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and the director Joe Pytka. In addition to a special featurette with Bugs and Michael Jordan, there are music videeos, Looney Tunes Game Demo and one hour of New-to-DVD Classic Looney Tunes like "Invasion of the Bunny Snatchers" and "Another Froggy Evening." God, Sex & Apple Pie
Centaur Productions & Warner Bros.

- A festival favorite, this romantic comedy features a cast of handsome, appealing unknowns who are charming and give adequate performances. The story concerns a group of adult friends who meet annually for a long weekend but this year something is wrong. Instead of a happy group, there's a stockbroker facing scandal, a TV reporter whose affair is leaked and a lonely angished postman on the verge of a breakdown. Can they rely on their long term friendships to support them as they go through these tough times? This odd-ball group is just a notch up from boring and I think the story might have been served better if it had different title.

The disc includes an interest behind-the scenes featurette which features that rare look at indie filmmaking. There are deleted scenes, outtakes, interviews, etc. on Dolby Surround Sound.

The Chess Player
Milestone Video

- This is a powerful drama of patriotism, betrayal and suspense produced at an extraordinarily fertile time in French history. Extraordinary music that compliments powerful silent visuals. Set in 1776 Poland, Vorowski, a Polish nobleman fights against Russian rule while his childhood sweetheart falls in love with a Russian officer. Victory is claimed in an automation chess games played by an invention called the Turk. But can Vorowski really make a difference? This silent film classic will delight fans of the era.

The disc includes an interview with Tom Standage the author of "The Turk"; a look at the historic 1927 visuals and more. The story's magical quality is highlighted by the black and white and color tinted picture.
