Mulan
Disney DVD

- This animated tale, based on a real story, about a Chinese girl who proves her worth is an impressive achievement with it's dynamic battle scenes and daring action. Furthermore, it is my favorite Disney animation story and I believe that fans will find it as satisfying as "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Lion King."

Mulan (voiced by Ming-Na Wen from TV's "ER") poses a soldier, Ping, when the Emperor of China (voice of Pat Morita) calls for volunteers in the Imperial Army to fight the invading armies of the Mongolian bandit, Shan-Yu (voice of Miguel Ferrer). She wants to protect her father who isn't in the best health and honor her family at the same time. When Mulan calls on her ancestors for help, a demoted dragon, Mushu (voiced brilliantly by Eddie Murphy, who also is the voice for Donkey in "Shrek") and a luckless cricket, Cri-Kee decide to accompany her.

In the field, Mulan as Ping is determined to gain the respect of their training officer, Captain Shang (voice of B.D. Wong). Laced with catchy songs and breathtaking visual scenes of rural China and the mountains, "Mulan" is a dazzling movie. The beautiful wilderness, the enchanting Great Wall and the Forbidden City where the Emperor lives is beautifully reproduced in the film.

The two-disc DVD is loaded with all kinds of features. There are deleted scenes including an alternate opening and a never-before-heard song. Kids of all ages will enjoy the Mulan Fun Facts and the wonderful featurette "Mulan's World." In addition to the glorious songs in the film, there are music videos featuring Raven, Jackie Chan and Christina Aguilera. The new digital transfer delivers a glorious picture with Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. This will be your favorite DVD!
