Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas centers around the friendship and gentle rivalry between Sinbad (voiced by Brad Pitt) and the princely Proteus (Joseph Fiennes). After the notorious rogue Sinbad is accused of stealing a priceless treasure - the Book of Peace - he must return the valuable book or Proteus will die. He decides to skip out on the obligation by sailing to the Fiji Islands however Proteus's fiancée Marina (Catherine Zeta Jones) has other ideas. She stows away on Sinbad's ship to make sure he'll do the right thing. A battle of wits erupts between them but the beautiful Marina quickly wins over Sinbad's crew. She also discovers that she has a taste for adventure as well. Meanwhile, Sinbad has another woman pressing him to find the book. It's Eris (Michelle Pfeiffer), the goddess of Chaos! Eris dispatches monstrous creatures and elements to challenge Sinbad during the voyage. "Time for screaming!" announces a playful but dangerous Eris.

It turns out that Michelle Pfeiffer is the best thing about Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas. After her wonderfully dark portrayal of a selfish mother in White Orleader, I began to think that Ms. Pfeiffer deserved to sink her teeth into a juicy role of a truly engrossing villain. As Eris, her sexy animated character is cool while Sinbad, Marina and Proteus are bland and wholesome. Hmmm! Boring!

At first I couldn't believe that the same creative team that did Shrek made Sinbad. This animated tale is humorless and dull. It's pretty to look at but even the ocean voyage and Eris' creatures don't raise the excitement level.

I guess the audience has to see Brad Pitt to be truly overwhelmed by his performance. Frankly, his voice performance is too casual and modern. While Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love) is stately and fine, Pitt (The Mexican) is too much Malibu surfer dud. And, Pfeiffer is sharp and nasty, Catherine Zeta Jones (Chicago) is sweet but lukewarm.

Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas is really disappointing and I don't think you audiences will care one bit!
